Firstly, sorry for my infrequent posting this week, I’ve been revising for my exams!
I have also been re-reading the Throne of Glass series! Honestly, it’s been so long since I read it from the start and now that I’ve read Assassin’s Blade too I noticed loads of references I previously didn’t catch.
So for those of you who haven’t read it (what rock have you been under?!), it’s about a girl called Celaena Sardothien. She’s an assassin and a slave and has been brought out of captivity to win a competition to become the king’s Champion (and gain her freedom).
The series is funny, emotive and the characters grow and develop so much throughout its unreal. The writing itself is amazing, especially the way all the plot points converge so beautifully. What starts out as a simple story grows and grows into something complex and amazing.
Empire of Storms confirms a lot for the readers, such as Nehemia and Elena’s relationship, Dorian’s growing powers and lots more (without giving away too many spoilers, though be warned, this post will have some).
Obviously everything came to an explosive end, with Aelin being whipped and captured and the moment our hearts all shattered –
“Where is Aelin? Where is my wife?”
Plus we gained Elorcan as a ship and Manorian as well!
One of the most evocative parts of the book for me was when Aedion lost it at Aelin about where the army was and then at the end….
Basically, this series is amazing. I can’t wait for the next book, and though I’m looking forward to Tower of Dawn, what I reaaaally want is the next of Aelin’s books.
What was your favourite part of Empire of Storms? Tell me in the comments!
Keep Reading, To Whatever End.
